At Integrative Psychiatry of America, psychiatric care is delivered exclusively by licensed psychiatric nurse practitioners. Clinical Placement Process

How Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner Clinical Training Works at IPA

Our structured clinical placement process ensures that PMHNP students receive a meaningful, well-supervised training experience. Universities interested in establishing an educational affiliation with IPA should contact our office.

 

01 - University Affiliation Agreement

The university and IPA establish a formal clinical affiliation agreement outlining the scope of the training placement, supervision requirements, and student expectations.

02 - Student Clinical Placement Scheduling

PMHNP students are placed with IPA for their required outpatient psychiatric clinical hours. Placement schedules are coordinated between the university and IPA to meet program requirements.

03 -Supervised Clinical Experience

Students observe and participate in real outpatient psychiatric encounters — including psychiatric evaluations, medication management follow-ups, and telepsychiatry visits — under direct supervision of a licensed psychiatric nurse practitioner.

04 - Mentorship and Feedback

Throughout the placement, students receive continuous mentorship, clinical feedback, and guidance to develop their diagnostic reasoning, treatment planning skills, and professional growth as future psychiatric nurse practitioners.

05 - Completion and Evaluation

At the end of the clinical placement, students receive a formal evaluation. IPA provides the documentation required by the affiliated university's PMHNP program.
